Vision: To show God’s love to the hurting and vulnerable in practical ways.
WIDOWS

2014: The year of God’s glory. Our weekly Thursday Fellowships experienced great numerical increase of widows, impartation of God’s word, miracles, divine revelation and outstanding testimonies. Many of our widows who came to our fellowship meetings with one affliction or the other experienced the divine touch of God; many seeking change in their lives gave their lives to Christ, their dependency on God was greatly increased, from bitterness to forgiveness, restoration of  peace and love amongst families. Food items were given to all widows every Thursday.


Widows Day:
The last Thursday of every November has been tagged “The Widows’ Day” in The Roses Ministry. A day set aside to encourage the widows physically, emotionally and spiritually. The Roses Ministry 2014 Widows’ Day took place on the 27th of November at The Roses Ministry office at the National Population Commission Office Complex, Census, 12/14 Babs Animashaun Street, Surulere, Lagos. The Doctors led by Dr. Mrs. Miriam Onuenyewa  and a team of doctors from Lagos University Teaching Hospital led by Dr. Erere Otrafronowei; Pharm. Mrs. Amaka Ofomata led the Pharmacists from Surulere Zone and Association of Lady Pharmacists, Lagos State. Donors of Omron blood monitors, HIV group from USA, Pharm. Helen Nmadu, Pharm. Okey Okaekwu (Salem Gates Pharmacy) attended to hundreds of widows with high blood pressure, diabetes, malaria etc with free medicines given to all of them. The widows were also sensitized on the spread of HIV AIDS in the society and free HIV tests was conducted. The spiritual program started at 1.30pm with the opening prayers and the introduction of the guests by Mrs. Regina Ezenwa (Roses Co-ordinator) who introduced the representatives of Senator Oluremi Tinubu: Mrs. Bamgboke Asabi and Mrs. Adekoya Nike and Mrs. Helen Oviagele, a representative from Vanguard newspaper and Barr. Mrs. Fola Sowemimo. The guest speaker, Pastor Silas Andrew spoke on the topic: It is not over until I win. He laid great emphasis on the testimonies of the testifiers and encouraged the widows to always be persistent in whatever they do, that with prayers it is never over until they get what they want. He used the story of the persisting woman in Luke 18 to explain further. This was consolidated with a dance drama by the Strength of Zion dance crew. Food and drinks was served to all in attendance. The following items were distributed to all the widows in attendance. Bag of rice, Intorica George wrappers, Hand bag, Loaves of bread, Tin tomatoes, Bottles of groundnut oil, Sachet of salt and Toilet Soap.
2015:

  • THEME: IN GOD’S PRESENCE.
  • Thursday weekly fellowship-Bible based teachings, Home and family and medicals
  • Annual Widows’ Day Thursday26th

Our Needs:

  • Funding for our Scholarship Scheme. Tagged: “educate one child per indigent widow”
  • food items for our Thursday weekly Fellowship
  • Funds, wrappers and food items for 2015 Widows’ Day

 

VOCATIONAL

2014: Skills Acquisition Training. We acquired a new semi-manual locally fabricated 200litre machine in addition to the electrical one for the production of liquid soap and the training of our widows at the end of third quarter of 2014. It improved the quantity and quality of our production, without relying on the availability of electricity or diesel.

2015: Ten widows have been trained in the production of Multipurpose liquid soap and hand wash with dispenser; all with proper monitoring.

Our Needs:

  • Finance for ‘Start up’ business for the trained
  • Production materials

 

YOUTH HOMES

 

2014:

  • All our monthly visits to The National Agency for Prohibition of trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) Home, were carried out.
  • Packages of Bibles, school sandals, face towels, exercise books, biros, snacks, drinks, were taken on very visit.
  • Bible based teachings, counseling and prayers played a crucial role in our visits.
  • Tremendous results with heartwarming testimonies were recorded.

2015: Our monthly visits to NAPTIP Homes is still ongoing with many outstanding testimonies from the youths through our Bible based teachings, counseling and prayers, with our distribution of gifts of Bibles, school sandals exercise books, biros, snacks for them.

Our Needs:

  • Bibles, school sandals, face towels, exercise books, biros, snacks, drinks, etc.
  • Bus to facilitate our visits.
  • Funds and more labourers

YOUTH SEMINARS: Providing counseling to the youths especially on the harmful effects of sexual immorality, cultism, drug abuse etc

August 2014 Holiday Seminar: The seminar took place at The Roses Ministry office at the National Population Commission Census Surulere, Lagos. Pharm. Mrs. Kelechi Okoh delivered a motivational talk on the topic : “SELF CONFIDENCE AS A TOOL FOR REALIZING ONE’S FUTURE GOAL” She advised the youths to be bold and have self confidence where ever they find themselves, and associate themselves with people that will influence them positively. There were questions and answers on the book of the year “The Vow” by Krickitt and Kim Carpenter and our children displayed their brilliance in answering questions from the novel and gifts were given to those who answered the questions correctly. Many exhibited their God’s given talents in singing, comedy, and playing of musical instruments to the glory of God Almighty. Food and drinks was served to all the children in attendance.

October 2014 Seminar-: Our Annual Senior Secondary School Seminar did not hold because of the Ebola outbreak.
2015.

Secondary Schools Visits: A Seminar was held at Princeton College, Surulere this June. Mrs. Regina Ezenwa delivered an inspirational talk on: “SELF CONFIDENCE AS A TOOL FOR REALIZING ONES FUTURE GOAL”. Books were given out as prizes to students who excelled in the Questions and Answer Session.

HEALTH

2014

  • Quarterly blood pressure monitoring and dispensing of medicines mainly anti-hypertensives and anti-diabetics to the widows
  • Weekly displays of health tips on the notice board in the office.
  • Drug donations were sourced and received from few drug companies
  • There was an increased partnership with health care professionals especially during the 2014 widows day in November

2015:

Quarterly blood pressure monitoring and dispensing of medicines mainly anti-

Hypertensives and anti-diabetics to the widows.

  • Quarterly dispensing of drugs

Our Needs:

  • Anti-hypertensives, anti-diabetics, anti-malarias and pain killers.
  • Partnership with health care professionals-Doctors and Pharmacists

 

 

 

ORPHANAGES

2014 / 2015: weekly visits to orphanages with medical interventions have positive impacts on the health of the children.

 

ELDERLY PEOPLES

2014: In addition to intervention in the lives of the elderly in our environment, the usual annual visit to The Elderly Peoples Home in Yaba was on Saturday, 29 November. Gifts of bags of rice, Toilet Paper, Cartons of Amstel Malt, Vegetable Oil, Salt, Toilet Soap, Detergent, Gallons of The Fragrance of The Roses Liquid Soap, Biscuits, Packets of high potency Multivitamins and Cash gifts to all residents. It was an exciting time of singing, dancing, sharing, praying and encouragement for the elderly. They were reluctant to let us go. We glorify God that our presence and gifts brought joy to them.
2015: Help and care to all the elderly in our community.

 

CHARITY SHOP 2014/2015.

  •  Care and awareness has been created in our neighborhood concerning charity and care of the vulnerable and needy.
  • Donated clothes and items are given out freely to those that need them or sold at give away prices.

 

COUNSELLING/MEETING: With the exception of Saturdays and Sundays, the office remains open throughout the other days including the public holidays.

  1. Theme: God’s Glory with sub-topics. This included the language classes of the last Thursdays of every month which were treated in vernaculars- Igbo and Yoruba.

2015: Theme:  In His Presence

Meetings have been held to the glory of God, with lots of life changing testimonies and numerical increase.

Testimonies: The Roses Ministry has been affecting lives.

  • A sister with a lump in the breast of many years, received a word of knowledge in a meeting for healing, the lump disappeared in one week, this has been confirmed medically before and after
  • A woman on her first attendance to our meeting received a word of knowledge for the gifts of the fruit of womb. This was made real in less than a year. In her testimony, she had been married for over nine years without a child.
  • Many have had good control of high blood pressure and diabetes through the medicines they receive
  • Many have testified that their lives have received positive transformation since they joined The Roses Ministry
  • Many have had peace restored in their family through the wise teachings and counseling they receive from The Roses Ministry.
  • Many have testified that our Scholarship Scheme and Vocational Training have given them hope in hopeless situations
  • Many have testified that they have felt the love of God in The Roses Ministry in a seemingly uncaring world.
