REAPING THROUGH PLANTING AND WATERING

“I planted the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow. It’s not important who does the planting, or who does the watering. What’s important is that God makes the seed grow. The one who plants and the one who waters work together with the same purpose. And both will be rewarded for their own hard work.”

(1 Corinthians 3:6-8, NLT)

God has entrusted various types of seeds to each of us, to be planted and nurtured by us till harvest time. The outcomes depend on the quality of inputs. The seeds are the Gospel, the gifts of the Spirit, our talents, treasures and time; and they are watered with the Word and prayers, Christian character, mentoring and teaching.

What is the seed in your hand? Without planting, a seed remains a seed. Even when planted, it remains dormant, until optimal growth conditions – which include the right temperature, light and moisture levels – are met. We plant and provide optimal growth conditions with prayers and others as above.

Just as the mystery of the growth of a small seed into a tree, so is the mystery of spiritual growth. Man must do the needful but only God gives the growth. May He receive all the glory!

Just as the seed yields many fruits with numerous seeds for the planter, so he who plants into the Kingdom reaps great rewards of victory, peace, joy, success and abundant life here on earth (with persecutions and sufferings) and eternal life, with crowns of glory, in heaven at last.

ACTION:  Have you planted the seed in your hands?

PRAYER: Lord, by your grace, let me plant, water and nurture every seed that you have put into my hands to maturity, to your glory and pleasure. Amen.
