“Therefore take up the whole armour of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”(Ephesians 6:–18)

Just as soldiers of old protected themselves with armour, present-day ones wear bulletproof vests. As soldiers of Christ, we should also wear the whole armour of God (Ephesians 6:14 –18). We use Truth to overcome Satan’s lies; our Righteousness in Christ to defend against Satan’s attacks on our emotions, self-worth and trust; readiness to spread the gospel to overcome discouragement and evangelise with hope of bringing souls into the kingdom; our faith as a shield against Satan’s insults, setbacks and temptations; salvation as a helmet to protect us from doubting God’s saving work for us; the Word of God as a sword to use as a weapon to take the offensive against Satan and praying always with all prayer.

ACTION: Read, meditate on and use the Word as the indispensable weapon!

PRAYER: Lord, increase our strength, so we will not faint in the day of adversity.
