“And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19)

Jehovah Jireh, God our Provider, gave a lamb as a substitute sacrifice for Abraham’s son of promise, Isaac. Likewise, He gave His only begotten Son, Jesus, as our Passover lamb, to die for our sins that we may have eternal life. He is willing and able to give us all things we need. Our needs range from the tangible (such as food, clothing and shelter) to the intangible (such as courage and grace to be more than conquerors on the earth). He did not promise to supply all our wants. Who, then, do we go to with our wants? Our wants may be endless, so we need to align our attitudes and appetites with God’s will, and this sometimes involves pain and discomfort.

ACTION: Trust in the Lord, asking for grace and courage to live for Christ and to his glory, even if our wants are not met.

PRAYER: Lord, please grant us the grace to focus on living for Jesus.
