“Jesus told her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die’.” (John 11:25–26)

Jesus is the resurrection and the life: Creator, Giver and Restorer. He has all power over life and death. Man is appointed to die once! Believers in Christ have a spiritual life that death cannot conquer or diminish in any way. In life we walk in God’s master plan; in death we just cross over to a glorious eternal life. Alleluia! The promise of resurrection is an awesome mystery that should draw us into constant love and obedience in Christ, and those who follow godly paths will rest in peace when they die. When I watched my beloved mum slip into eternity at 89 years, I saw peace and glory reflected around her. Even though I miss her, I know that these words are true that she is resting in peace.

ACTION: Strive to enter through the narrow door, the gate of life and heaven.

PRAYER: Help us Lord to reject the attractions of sin at such a time as this.
