“Therefore, my beloved and longed-for brethren, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, beloved.” (Philippians 4:1)

There is a lot of boasting in the world of today especially in our country, Nigeria where there is a class of super-rich. Some of these acquired their wealth through diligence and hard work; some others through government-inflated contracts and some through questionable means. Most who belong in this latter group seek recognition through titles, etc. They insist on being announced with all their titles at public functions, and they have lifestyles that do not glorify God. Are we different? St. Paul admonishes us to stand firm with our faith in God rather than our own accomplishments.  This is possible only through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.

ACTION: Stand firm against idolatry, legalistic doctrines and immorality. Always remember that we are pilgrims on earth and ambassadors of our heavenly kingdom.

PRAYERS: Lord Jesus Christ, we keep our eyes on You at such a time as this.
