GIFTS FOR JESUS!

“…They fell down and worshiped him. Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh.” (Matthew 2:11)

The wise men searched till they found Jesus. First, they fell down and worshipped him before they opened and offered him their physical gifts. Wise men still seek Jesus!
Our Lord and Saviour desires our gifts of reverence and worship first, in acknowledgement of His majesty, before our gifts of service, obedience and physicals gifts. We should live a life of gratitude and worship for who He is. Godliness with contentment is great gain.

The wise men opened their treasures which were expensive gifts. Gold – a gift for a king; frankincense – a gift for a deity; and myrrh – a spice for burial. The gifts told the story of the vision God had given them for the Messiah.

What are our treasures and what vision do we have for their use? The dictionary describes treasure as something of great worth or value; or a collection of precious things, usually in the form of a stock of precious metals, precious stones, jewels or money. Are we willing to open them to the Lord and offer Him valuable gifts: physical gifts for His service and for the work of the Kingdom?
All our treasures come from the Lord. No matter how expensive or valuable, it is really of His own that we give back when we give.

ACTION: Honour the Lord with your wealth and with the first fruits of all your produce; then your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will be bursting with wine. (Proverbs 3:9-10).

PRAYER: Father, help me to live a life of worship from my heart and with my treasures.
