LIKE FATHER LIKE SON

“Phillip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.” (John 14:8)

I remember my father referring several times to what his father taught him. On my mum’s side, you dared not misbehave because you would receive a long lecture on their family values that had been passed on for generations and you would be the only black sheep if you didn’t comply. I thought their parents were perfect – until I learnt, as an adult, some not too perfect and rather funny stories about them. That is human!”

Only one person lived on earth and still lives without fault or weakness, JESUS. He was God in human flesh, holy and without sin, and with all God’s characteristics of love and compassion. Like man, He had His moments of strength and moments of tiredness; He laughed and he cried; He was exposed to temptations and challenges as we are but the difference is that He never succumbed. He could boldly say: “He who has seen Me has seen the father.”

Jesus went back to heaven and sent the Holy Spirit to indwell us so we could be the light of the world. Are we? What characteristics of God do we reflect? Can unbelievers seek God because of us?

ACTION: Let others see Jesus in you, by your daily conduct.

PRAYER: Oh Lord, make me to reflect your light to the world in Jesus’ name.
