30TH NOVEMBER
ERROR OF MONEY
“They have left the straight path and have lost their way; they have followed the path taken by Balaam son of Beor, who loved the money he would get for doing wrong.”(2 Peter 2:15, GNT)
He was the officer in charge of all Store supplies to the company. Right on the grounds of the church, Blessing met him and said, “I have submitted my quotations for the list given.”
“Good”, he replied, “meet me for lunch at the hotel across the street and I will make you rich.”
“Hotel for Lunch?” Blessing queried.
“Stop behaving like a small girl, the choice is yours,” he retorted.
“I am a Christian”, Blessing answered.
“Are we not in Church? I am a Christian too, a few contracts and you will be very rich”, he replied rather impatiently.
Is it just politicians that do wrong things to get money? What of the above true story? Do we take advantage of others to help them? Do we compromise our
Christian faith and morals for money? Do we use religion for personal advantage? Money is important but will we, like Balaam, leave the straight path and lose our way, not just in this life but eternally?
Blessing did not compromise, and God continued to provide all her needs and even beyond. Even our comfort is not worth compromising our eternal life for. In Proverbs 13:22, King Solomon wrote that a good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children. Yet, even that inheritance we desire to leave for our children is not worth compromising our eternal life for. Have you noticed how some children of the rich fritter away or fight over their parents’ wealth when they are gone?
ACTION: Resolve never to compromise but to deal with evil motives and desires for money so they do not lead you away from God.
PRAYER: Help me, Oh Lord, not to fall into the snares of riches!
