GOD’S WORDS IN YOUR MOUTH

“For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven,
And do not return there, But water the earth,
And make it bring forth and bud, That it may give seed to the sower
And bread to the eater,
So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
It shall not return to Me void,
But it shall accomplish what I please,
And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”

(Isaiah 55:10-11, NKJV)

“Then the Lord put forth His hand and touched my mouth, and the Lord said to me: “Behold, I have put My words in your mouth.
See, I have this day set you over the nations and over the kingdoms, To root out and to pull down, To destroy and to throw down, To build and to plant.”

(Jeremiah 1:9-10, NKJV)

God’s promises never fail. His Word will always produce results, meet needs and perform His will. As Christians, we have been empowered to speak words that will give life and blessing, not death and curses – except God has specifically sent us to warn of judgement, as He did with Jeremiah. We must not speak careless words. 

It is true that our weapons are strong and effective and able to bring the devil to his knees (2 Corinthians 10:4-5). However, verse 6 makes it clear that this privilege is dependent on our total obedience to the Lord.                    

ACTION: Resolve to be ever mindful of the power in your words and to speak only according to God’s will.

PRAYER: Lord, teach me to store your Word in my heart that I may not sin against you but reflect your power in my life. Amen.
