Jehovah Sabaoth – The Lord God of Hosts

“Then David said to the Philistine, ‘You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.’”(1 Samuel 17:45)

Every soldier, including the king of Israel, was afraid of the towering giant, Goliath. All except the visitor, the young shepherd David, who saw a mortal man taunting God’s own people and defying the Lord God of Hosts. David could not be held back by the negative words of man, criticism, or even man-made armours. His testimonies of triumph over the lion and bear as a shepherd protecting his sheep propelled him to stand forth and be an instrument in the hands of ‘Jehovah Sabaoth’ to redeem Israel.

ACTION: Let us view giant problems from God’s perspective and surely come forth as more than conquerors. Be an instrument in God’s hands.

PRAYER: Lord, please bring to our memory relevant experiences of God’s power, so that we will fight life’s battles in Your power and not ours.
