“The Lord of hosts will defend them; They shall devour and subdue with slingstones.” (Zechariah 9:15a)
The Lord’s will is that we live in peace, but Ecclesiastes 3: 8b says that there is: “A time of war and a time of peace.” God promises that when war is inevitable, He will rise as the Lord of hosts to defend us. We do not need to have stronger weapons to be victorious. Some wins are through God’s wisdom, like one of the two women who gave up her rights to her child rather than have him cut into two. In the end, King Solomon ruled in her favour and she got back her son. Other wins are through prayers that raise angels and heavenly hosts to pull down barriers, like when the walls of Jericho fell. Yet others are through physical fights; God promises us victory in them all.
ACTION: Let us always obey God, as victory comes from obedience. Have faith, even when we cannot see the victory.
PRAYER: Lord God of Hosts, we are confident that You, who are in us, are greater than he who is in the world. Grant us the grace to listen to and obey You. We are more than conquerors through the Lord of hosts who defends us!
