God is immutable

“For I am the Lord, I do not change; Therefore you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob.”(Malachi 3:6)

God never changes. His attributes, His character, His plans, and His promises are the same from before the beginning of time into eternity. He is dependable. His purposes are unfailing and His promises unassailable. In His mercy, faithfulness to His covenant and promises to Israel and to us today, are the norm. Even when we fail him, He still does not fail us or destroy us. Nothing can separate us from the love of Christ, so His promise of eternal life is sure and firm. The New Testament describes Jesus’ unchanging nature as being ‘the same yesterday, today and forever’.

ACTION: Trust in God with joy in the knowledge that God cannot change. However, we also need to obey to avoid the consequences of disobedience.

PRAYER: We are grateful for Your mercy and unchanging nature. Thank You, Lord.
