THE COMPLETENESS OF GOD’S CREATION
“God has made everything beautiful for its own time.”
(Ecclesiastes 3:11, NLT)
I look out as the dawn comes, the sunlight peeping through the sky to bring daylight and I say to it: “Sun, among many other things, you were created to give me light and vitamins; so that, through me, the light of God will shine to others to give God glory and pleasure.”
I look at the different types and species of plants that grow in the wild and the ones we plant and nurture, trees with fruits hanging down, and I say, “Plants, among many other things, you were created as food for me, to nourish me so that I can grow in health, strength and be spiritually nurtured, so that ‘out of my belly will flow rivers of living water’ to nurture others.“
I hear the sounds as thunders roar and lightning flashes across the sky. I hear and see the pattering of the rains and say. “Now my plants will grow; now the weather will be cool, now...”
I look at the farm and domestic animals and the beasts of burden around me and say: “You were created as food, as companions, as workers, all for me to enable me fulfil my purpose.”
But I wonder about the pests. Pests are destructive insects or other animals that attack crops, food, livestock, etc. Did God make pests to have only a destructive role? No, God created all living organisms (plants, animals and microbes) to be linked together through nutrient cycles and energy flows to form ecosystems. What is pest to a part of God’s creation is food to another.
ACTION: Estimate the proportion of the combined contributions of your domestic assistants and other workers to your GDP. Then express appreciation to God and to each of these people for helping to make life easier for you.
PRAYER: Thank you, Lord, for making everything for a purpose, beautiful in its time. Lord make me beautiful in my time. Amen.
