FROM DRYNESS TO TWELVE SPRINGS
“After leaving Marah, the Israelites travelled on to the oasis of Elim, where they found twelve springs and seventy palm trees. They camped there beside the water.”
(Exodus 15:27, NLT)
After the drama at Marah, the Israelites drank to their fill from the bitter water made sweet with the goodness of the branch of a tree out of the abundant kindness of God. God did not just stop there, He embarrassed them by taking them to Elim, where He had in place, twelve springs of water and not just a log or seemingly dead branch but seventy palm trees. What an awesome God! He does just the same for us today. He embarrasses us with His love, mercy and kindness, even in our failures and weaknesses.
It is important that we confidently share our testimonies of God’s awesomeness without fear of a backlash, as He says: “Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world” (1 John 4:4). We should not grumble against God, His servants, His church, or even the government, but pray to God for solutions and the wisdom and courage to take actions that will lead to profitable ends.
Note that, in life, tests will come but it is the people that know their God that shall be strong, and do exploits (Daniel 11:32b).
ACTION: Reflect on why people capitalise more on the bad done to them that the good deeds. Count your blessings and name them one by one and it will surprise you what the Lord has done.
PRAYER: Lord God, I worship and praise you, not just for all you have done and continue to do for me but especially for who you are.
