THE FIG TREE DIED (3)

“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15)

Two days ago, we read about the fig tree which had leaves that should come after fruiting but produced no figs. It pretended to be fruitful. This is hypocrisy, a sin before God who sees all our secrets and knows all our pretences to be who we are not.

Jesus got rid of the fig tree. We need to get rid of things in our lives that do not serve God’s purpose and which make us unfruitful: time wasters, destiny destroyers, regular unhealthy food and drinks, etc.

Fig trees can be unfruitful because of too little manure or sunshine. We will be unfruitful if we do not study the Word of God. Prayer as first thing in the morning is indispensable.

ACTION: What are the unhelpful loads you are carrying that are slowing down your heavenward journey? Get rid of them.

PRAYER: Lord, help me to get my priorities right that I may please you and be fruitful all the days of my life. Amen.
