DELAY IS NOT DENIAL
“Jesus said, “This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God’s glory so that God’s Son may be glorified through it.” (John 11:4, NIV)
Over and over, the Bible encourages believers to patiently wait on the Lord in trials and challenges. How difficult this is when there seems to be no food, no shelter or no job? What do we do amidst endless difficulties or when a loved one is sick, especially when the sickness is said to be terminal or undiagnosed?
After Jesus was told that Lazarus was sick, he felt the pain of those around the sick man but delayed two full days before he started off. How long has your challenge lasted? Jesus feels your pain. The delay is not necessarily a denial. That challenge may bring greater glory to God.
Remember Joseph? He was sold into slavery by his own brothers, set up by his boss’ wife and sent to prison. But one day, according to God’s perfect timing and purpose, he was lifted to become Prime Minister in Egypt. It was much more than he could ask for or expect.
Jesus has power over all things, including death. Lazarus was sick and died. Four days later, Jesus raised him from the dead. Every delay has a specific purpose.
ACTION: Keep praying! Don’t complain or grumble in your challenges; trust and believe that God will work all things together for your good and for His purpose and glory.
PRAYER: Father Lord, help me to have a better understanding of your purpose for my life and to patiently wait till your will is done.
