LIVE IN HARMONY

“May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus.” (Romans 15:5)

This is a beautiful prayer that we all need at this present time. In our country, Nigeria and all over the world, there are peoples of different nationalities, colours, languages, educational levels, financial capabilities and creative strengths. We flow more easily when we have something in common with others and we find it easier to live in harmony.

Sometimes, disagreements arise from misunderstandings, impatience, envy
and distrust. Living in harmony requires sacrifice, understanding, trust and love in action. Offences are bound to come in our relationships, but we must learn to forgive, without keeping malice or reacting in hurtful ways.

Our God is willing and able to release His character of patience, comfort and encouragement upon us, to enable us to focus on one another’s strengths and seek common grounds for fellowship, while we minimise our differences. This way, we will find it easy to accept others and God will be glorified in our lives. As Jesus clearly says, “By this shall all men know that you are my disciples if you have love one for another” (John 13:35).

ACTION: Think of anyone you have a grudge against and find a way to let go.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, I receive the spirit of endurance and encouragement to
live in harmony with others, in Jesus’ name.
