28 DECEMBER
HERE COMES THE BRIDE!
“For I have chosen him, that he may command his children and his household after him to keep the way of the Lord by doing righteousness and justice, so that the Lord may bring to Abraham what he has promised him.”
(Genesis 18:19)
“And her brother and mother blessed Rebekah and said to her: “Our sister, may you become the mother of thousands of ten thousands; And may your descendants possess the gates of those who hate them”.
(Genesis 24:60)
“Now Isaac came from the way of Beer Lahai Roi, for he dwelt in the South. And Isaac went out to meditate in the field in the evening; and he lifted his eyes and looked, and there, the camels were coming. Then Rebekah lifted her eyes, and when she saw Isaac she dismounted from her camel; for she had said to the servant,
“Who is this man walking in the field to meet us?”
(Genesis 24:62-65)
Just as Rebekah prayed and expected, the groom was diligent and prayerful. He did not run around aimlessly while the search was on. He remained in the place of work and prayer and got a godly wife as help to fulfil God’s command to Abraham to command his children and household to keep the way of the Lord.
Isaac was taught righteousness at home. He obeyed God; so God fulfilled His promises to Abraham through him.
Rebekah’s family prayed and blessed her and the words of their blessing were accomplished in her life.
ACTION: In the midst of celebrations of weddings, what blessings do we speak over our children?
PRAYER: Help me, O God, to teach my children and household your precepts, in all seasons, as well as to pray over them and bless them.
