“Lamech lived … and had a son. And he called his name Noah, saying, ‘This one will comfort us concerning our work and the toil of our hands, because of the ground which the Lord has cursed.’” (Genesis 5:28-28 NKJV)
God is sovereign, ordering and structuring creation. Lamech saw the hardship required to till the grounds just to have food on the table. He had also heard the stories of the beauty of and provisions in the Garden of Eden, and how the first man Adam sinned, making the Lord to curse the ground. With hope and revelation, he prophesied into his life of his son by naming him Noah, meaning ‘rest’. His prophecy was fulfilled, as Noah was perfect in his generation, which was an age of moral darkness. His family was saved from destruction by floods that God sent. What do you call your child? There is power in the tongue.
ACTION: Prophesy into the lives of your children, even if you have given them names that do not portray who God says they are.
PRAYER: Oh Lord, please grant us revelation at such a time as this!
