AND IT CAME TO PASS

It came to pass – to happen. This phrase occurs several times in the Old Testament. It often indicates that what is happening is the result of a course of events. It also describes the different events and phases of earthly history and experience, implying that things happen, but are so soon over. In other words, they come, but they “come to pass.”

As there are two sides of a coin, so are there two sides of any event: positive and negative. For the unavoidable or distressing things that happen, and which we often term negative, we want them to “come to pass” and become past tense speedily. For example: “It came to pass, when the evil spirit from God was upon Saul, that David took the harp and played with his hand“. For the ones we term positive, we want them to come speedily but remain without passing by: “It came to pass after four hundred and thirty years that all the hosts of the Lord went out from the land of Egypt,” and so on.

When they come as Word of knowledge and prophetically, we do warfare prayers to avert the negatives. We also make petitions invoking God’s promises to bring down the positives. It is worthy of note that, biblically speaking, events we can see do not last forever; changes happen, and they will surely come to pass. For these reasons, we must never give up, lose heart or become discouraged:

2 Corinthians 4:16-18(NLT) explains it succinctly: “That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever”.

This section is intended to focus more on the Word so they are two bible verses that complement each other and give us more focus on God’s thoughts rather than man’s, on the eternal rather than physical, for the physical will pass away.                                                                                                                                We thank, worship and adore our Lord God for life and His blessings. And it shall come to pass that in the midst of all the challenges of this time, we receive protection, good health, and more than enough resources for the abundant life. We receive the breath of the Holy Spirit to give us the mind and character of our Lord Jesus Christ that we shall always excel, be filled with love and courage, and bring glory to God in all things; Amen!
