A SMILE IN THE STORMS

You [GOD] have been a refuge for the poor, a refuge for the needy in their distress, a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat; for the breath of the ruthless is like a storm against a wall.

(Isaiah 25:4)

God is always a refuge for the poor: He is a provider and defender for the financially poor. But, more importantly, even when we are spiritually poor – lacking in contentment, joy and gratitude and have neither acknowledged Him, prayed as we ought nor obeyed Him as we should – He still listens and answers us, whenever we call upon Him,.

God is a refuge for the needy in their distress: He never allows our needs to overwhelm us. In all our distresses, He gives us peace that passes all understanding.  He is our shield and exceedingly great reward.

God is a shelter from the storm: Whenever the enemy comes against us like a flood, He lifts up a standard against them. We stand upon Him, who is our Rock and we are safe. As the mountains surround Jerusalem, His protecting arms are round us. He will not allow the sceptre of the wicked to rest on that which belongs to the righteous. For the breath of the ruthless is like a storm driving against a wall.

God is a shade from the heat: the sun shall not smite us by day nor the moon by night.

ACTION: God is always with us in the storms. Look up and smile at the storms today!

PRAYER: Thank you, Lord, for your ever abiding presence.
