16 FEBRUARY
NO LAUGHING!
“Elisha left Jericho and went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, a group of boys from the town began mocking and making fun of him. “Go away, baldy!” they chanted. “Go away, baldy!”
(2 Kings 2:23, NLT)
Some people laugh and mock at miracles. Some are like the biblical Sarah, who was sceptical and laughed at God’s promise. Let us be cautious, lest we mock God, with consequences which may be disastrous, as with the youths who mocked God indirectly by mocking his prophet, Elisha, in the passage above.
God has called us to bring joy and peace to others, with thanksgiving, praise and worship, and not as judge.
ACTION: Refuse to laugh, if it will bring sadness to others. Refuse to laugh at or judge miracles.
PRAYER: Father God, give me the spirit of discernment and grace to bring joy and laughter to others in such a way that will glorify you.
