BLESSINGS OF FELLOWSHIP (2)
“For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.” (Matthew 18:20 )
Rick Warren teaches that there are five bible–based purposes of church, as follows: worship, evangelism, fellowship, discipleship, ministry. Also, five things that “SHAPE” a person are: spiritual gifts, heart, ability, personality and experiences. Discovering one’s SHAPE is necessary in our Christian walk. The components are needed to fulfil destiny and God’s purpose for creating each of us!
From the point of view of the five purposes of church, we can assume that it is possible to worship alone, and maybe–just maybe–discover your SHAPE through the power of the Holy Spirit without a group. But there is a power and anointing that group worship brings. In the Bible verse above, the Lord says He is among at least two gathered in His name.
Tell me how you can evangelise without others, or how you can fellowship or encourage others by yourself. How can you be discipled and disciple others alone, or minister and help others discover their SHAPE on your own?
Church is not the building; it is the gathering of believers in Christ. Christianity is all about each of us being a channel of the love of God and faith in Christ, to others that all may be saved now and eternally. Can you be an effective Christian alone?
ACTION: Resolve to fulfil God’s purpose for your life by being a channel of love to others.
PRAYER: Lord, make me a channel of blessings.
