STANDING ON THE PROMISES OF GOD
“Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; for he is faithful that promised.” (Hebrews 10:23)
Russell Kelso Carter (1849–1928) was a star athlete of a military academy and an excellent student academically. He went on to become a successful teacher and coach. After several years as an ordained Methodist minister, he went to medical school after which he spent the last of his professional years as a doctor of medicine. Carter was also a musician and songwriter.
Although Carter was a professed Christian most of his life, the reality of a medical crisis with his heart at age 30, during which the physicians gave up, forced him to turn to God for healing. As he made a promise to fully consecrate his life to God, with or without healing, the Word of God became alive to him. He determined to believe God’s promises for healing. The words of this hymn which he had written years earlier became more real to him. In a few months, he was completely healed and lived another 49 years. Let us sing this hymn in faith for our God is the Healer who keeps his promises. Hymn:

ACTION: Rededicate yourself to God, as you await the speedy manifestation of His promises in your life.
PRAYER: Thank you Lord for your abiding faithfulness. I fully consecrate myself to you and stand on your promises that cannot fail.
