WHO AM I?
(A FLAME OF FIRE!)
“In speaking of the angels he says, He makes his angels spirits, and his servants flames of fire.”
(Hebrews 1:7)
Wow! I am a servant of God! I am a flame of fire! I may be a flame of fire to “cook food, provide light and heat” for God’s pleasure – that is, be used by God to fulfil His purposes in creation, especially as regards other human beings, made in His image. We have been given authority from God to occupy till Jesus comes, as well as power and glory to work out God’s purposes. We have a choice but like lightening, God expects us to be rapid and prompt to do His will, quick and obedient in His service.
On the other hand, I may be a flame of fire to “destroy and burn any hindrance or enemy” to God’s purpose of abundant life to believers. This may be a negative character trait and not necessarily an external enemy. We have been given the authority to cast out demons, speak in new tongues, take up serpents, lay hands on the sick and they will recover; and even when we drink anything deadly it will not hurt us (Mark 16:17 -18). I rejoice for I am a dread to the thief that comes only to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10).
ACTION: Be sensitive to hear God and quick to do His will. Choose to be a vessel of honour to fulfil God’s purpose.
PRAYER Lord, help me to know my right purpose in every situation – a flame to cook or a flame to destroy.
