THE SCARLET CORD (1)

“The blood shall be a sign for you, on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and no plague will befall you to destroy you, when I strike the land of Egypt.” (Exodus 12:13)

The Passover lamb was to be young and without blemish – the very best. It was to foreshadow Jesus in His prime, the very best of God. Perfect and without sin, His sacrificial death and atoning blood brought deliverance from the judgement of death.

Anyone outside the houses with the covering of blood (as mentioned in our text) – which signifies being outside the covering of Jesus Christ – is vulnerable to diverse dangers and afflictions on earth, and will ultimately get the full weight of God’s anger and judgement at the final reckoning.

Just as the scarlet cord of the blood of the lamb had to be applied to the door posts and lintel, under and above, so when we accept the blood of Jesus on the cross, we come under God’s protection and atonement against God’s death penalty. As the Passover signified a new beginning, so accepting Jesus as Lord and Saviour signifies a new spiritual birth. 

ACTION:  Accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour and be saved from eternal death.

PRAYER: Dear God, I come under the covering the blood of Jesus today. Cleanse me from all sins and fortify me and my household against present calamities and the judgement to come.
