THE VOLKWAGEN BEETLE ADVERT

“We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies.” (2 Corinthians 4:8-10)

I remember the Volkswagen Beetle television advert, with the slogan: “You can’t crush the Beetle.” In the advert, the Beetle car rises after every crushing act, to show that it is a very durable car.

Similarly, the Christian may be afflicted with sin, sicknesses, humiliations and trials but cannot be crushed because these are just opportunities for Jehovah El Shaddai to demonstrate His power and raise him up. We may be persecuted but God says He will never forsake or leave us. We may be struck down, even unto death, but we cannot be destroyed because in Christ we have eternal life. Death is not the end of life for us.

God’s purpose, will and accomplishments in and through us cannot be destroyed. Some, especially women are suppressed in marriage and the workplace, but true Christians are irrepressible. As those who know their God, they shall be strong and do exploits.

We are more than conquerors through Christ who loves us!

ACTION: Live in the consciousness of your dominion in Christ and refuse to be subdued by challenges.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, I depend on you for strength in my Christian journey and I trust you that my victory is assured in the midst of my challenges.
