“Learn to do good; seek justice, Rebuke the oppressor!”  (Isaiah 1:17a)

The suffocation of George Floyd by a U.S. policeman in year 2020 provoked widespread protests. Some days after that in Louisville, Kentucky, a lone patrol officer was surrounded by protesters. As the crowd moved closer, their balled fists and yelling of profanities got angrier, and Hinshaw, the patrol officer, was scared. At that moment one of the protesters, Lee, put himself between the closest protester and Hinshaw to protect him. At his own risk, Lee decided to do what is good and just! A few others joined, linking their arms with his to form a shield. As expected, the protesters turned on Lee in surprise, but just in time, Hinshaw’s squad arrived and Lee escorted him to his unit, unhurt.

ACTION: In obedience to God our Protector, we should do good, seek justice and rebuke oppressors, for our loved ones as well as for those who may have even hurt us, sometimes at some personal risk.

PRAYER: Father God, please protect us at such a time as this, especially when we put our lives at risk for others.
