FRAGRANCE OF THE ROSES 2 – 7TH JANUARY

07 January

“Now, after the death of Jehoiada, the leaders of Judah came and bowed down to the king, Joash. And the king listened to them. Therefore, they left the house of the Lord God of their fathers, and served wooden images and idols”.                             (2 Chronicles 24:17-18)

Ezennia, the head of the family, was a wise man, a consummate professional who led with biblical principles. In time, he died and his half-brother who became the family head introduced intrigues, in-fighting and deceit. The family that had been united, peaceful and loving was no longer at ease. Jehoiada the Priest guided King Joash from age 7 when he became King of Israel. When Jehoiada died, Joash took advice from leaders who were idol worshippers. These same people plotted and killed him. He started well but finished badly. Who are our advisers? How do we lead? Can we stand firm on God’s Word without our spiritual leaders and mentors?

ACTION: Let us study and obey the Scriptures, so as to reject wrong advise at such a time as this.

PRAYER: Our Father, please strengthen us never to go back to our vomit.
