“Then the other supervisors and the governors tried to find something wrong with the way Daniel administered the empire, but they couldn’t, because Daniel was reliable and did not do anything wrong or dishonest”. (Daniel 6:4)
The story is told of a Christian who was sacked from his job for always reading his Bible during working hours. Is that persecution? No. As Christians, we should be above reproach: reliable and honest, and of course, diligent and dedicated in our work, giving our best and using our work time for work. However, righteousness does not always shield us from attacks. In fact, it provokes persecution. Enemies may arise out of jealousy, but would they find it more difficult or easier if they find fault with our behaviour, talk, work and lifestyle? When jealous critics arise because of our faith, we should trust God’s plan and be confident that God will fight the battle for us.
ACTION: We must not be found wanting, especially in the work place.
PRAYER: Lord, please give us excellence in all we do and protect us at all times, especially for such a time as this.
