“Of course, my friends, I really do not think that I have already won it; the one thing I do, however, is to forget what is behind me and do my best to reach what is ahead”. (Philippians 3:13)
What should we do to win the prize for which Jesus Christ won us to himself?
(a) Forget the past: successes that make us boast; failures, challenges, pains, accusations, guilt, things that make us ashamed, etc.
(b) Reach forward, pressing on to what is ahead, towards the goal.
(c) Grow in the knowledge of Christ, in a life of faith and obedience. Some things, such as sickness and pain, are in the present not past. Like Paul who had a thorn in his flesh, we can also overcome through God’s grace which is sufficient for us, since His strength is made perfect in our weakness.
ACTION: Rely on God’s power when we are weak at such a time as this.
PRAYER: Lord, please remind us of who You are during times of challenges and enable us to press forward always.
