“When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to him and said, ‘I am El-Shaddai—‘God Almighty.’ Serve me faithfully and live a blameless life.’” (Genesis 17:1)

El Shaddai is making this same request of us: Serve me faithfully and live a blameless life. Why does it seem so difficult? It becomes easier when we realise who God is, the All-mighty, All-powerful, and All-sufficient One; the only One who has the capacity and ability to do ALL things and meet our every need. Really? Yes, all our work and walk depend on His blessing. The Psalmist understood this well, declaring “Unless the LORD builds a house, the work of the builders is wasted. Unless the LORD protects a city, guarding it with sentries will do no good. It is useless for you to work so hard from early morning until late at night, anxiously working for food to eat; for God gives rest to his loved ones.”

ACTION: Give up whatever will be a hindrance to living a blameless life.

PRAYER: Father, we submit ourselves in total obedience at such a time as this.
