“There were some shepherds … who were spending the night in the fields, taking care of their flocks. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone over them.” (Luke 2:8-9)
The shepherds were busy in their jobs sacrificing their sleep at night to take care of their sheep when God sent an angel to announce the birth of Jesus. An angel came to announce the birth of the long-awaited Messiah to humble, diligent shepherds. We do not need extraordinary talents or vocation to be used by the Lord. Humility and diligence, readiness to sacrifice and joy to receive and tell others are the requirements. As we obey, the glory of the Lord will shine over us and all we do.
ACTION: Be diligent in your work or business. Be expectant of God’s promise and the signs He gives. Attend to the Lord’s assignment with haste and enthusiasm.
PRAYER: Father, please prepare us to receive great manifestations of Your promises. Jesus was born as man, died and rose again for such a time as this!
