WE ARE ABLE!
“And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.”
(Numbers 13:30)
God described Caleb as “my servant” – a devoted and helpful follower – and declared that he had a different spirit, was the spirit of faith, trust, obedience, patience, perseverance and hope. The only condition was: “If the Lord delights in us…” (Numbers 14:8). God rejected all the adults in their entire generation for their lack of faith, trust and hope, as well as their grumbling and unbelief, except Caleb and Joshua who followed Him fully. God promised to bring them into the Promised Land and in addition, their descendants would possess it. What a wonderful reward for following fully!
Caleb had great confidence in the ability of Jehovah El-Shaddai, the Lord God Almighty; so he was not afraid. He knew that God cannot lose any battle. He is able, so we are able! God has promised us victory! But only “IF…”
We are able to go up and take the country! I always remember and sing this song from the early 1970’s SU (Scripture Union) days as a song of victory, especially in the face of challenges. At 85years, Caleb asked for his inheritance and proclaimed that he was as strong as he was at 40 years. He was vigorous and mighty in battle, patient with a clear spiritual vision and persevering faith, and quick to act on God’s word. He conquered Hebron by defeating the ancient race of giants who dwelt there. Then the land had rest from war.
ACTION: “Have a faith that never wavers, a vision that never dims, a strength that never weakens (physically or spiritually), and a victory that is complete.” Sing this song:

To possess the land from Jordan to the sea;
Though the giants may be on our way to hinder;
God will surely give us victory!
