2ND NOVEMBER
THE PATH OF OBEDIENCE
“This is what the Lord says—your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel:“I am the Lord your God,who teaches you what is best for you,who directs you in the way you should go. ”(Isaiah 48:17, NIV)
The Lord our God teaches us the profitable way and directs us – as much as we allow Him – unto the right path of salvation. Though we sometimes pass through the thorny path of afflictions, He holds our hands with His righteous right hand in faith. He walks us through the ways of righteousness, in the highway of holiness and the path of duty.
There is an Igbo proverb that is translated as “What a child cannot see from the treetop, an old man can see sitting down.” We can see dimly, with only limited physical vision; but God sees and knows all the past, the present and the future.
God is our all-knowing, all-powerful, ever-present Creator. Without Him, we are nothing. He teaches and directs us for our own good. Oh, what a bouquet of glorious promises He has made to those who pay attention to His commandments in Isaiah 48:18:
Peace like a river;
Righteousness like the waves of the sea;
Offspring like the sand and descendants like its grains;
A name that will never be cut off or destroyed from before the Almighty.
Alleluia! We would rather obey God’s commandments than have consequences that threaten our peace, or even worse, our generations.
ACTION: Surrender to God’s leading; He knows best!
PRAYER: I trust in you, Oh Lord, for you are the eternal, invisible, immortal and all-wise God. Teach me follow you always, without wavering.
