GODLY WISDOM BRINGS HUMILITY
“If you are wise and understand God’s ways, prove it by living an honourable life, doing good works with the humility that comes from wisdom.”
(James 3:13)
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.”
(Proverbs 9:10)
Godly wisdom makes a person humble because he fears the Lord and knows that he cannot take credit for his gifts or good works, as all he has are from God. His life and actions are to please God. Our proof of wisdom is humility, irrespective of how high God has placed us in society.
In the words of Mother Theresa:
“These are the few ways we can practice humility:
To speak as little as possible of one’s self.
To mind one’s own business.
Not to want to manage other people’s affairs.
To avoid curiosity.
To accept contradictions and correction cheerfully.
To pass over the mistakes of others.
To accept insults and injuries.
To accept being slighted, forgotten and disliked.
To be kind and gentle even under provocation.
Never to stand on one’s dignity.
To choose always the hardest.”
ACTION: Prove your wisdom by being humble while living an honourable life with good works.
PRAYER: Thank you, Lord, for godly wisdom.
