FRAGRANCE OF THE ROSES – 12TH DECEMBER

12 DECEMBER

THE WHITE LILY

“And the twelve were with Jesus, and certain women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities…

and Susanna, and many others who provided for Him from their substance.”

(Luke 8:1-3, NKJV)

Women were also with Jesus wherever He went. Susanna was one of these women who had been healed both physically and spiritually. She dedicated her life to Jesus in thanksgiving and followed Him.

Susanna means “White Lily”. White lilies symbolise a rejuvenation of the soul. They can represent purity, commitment and rebirth and are often used in weddings and funerals. They are known as “sympathy flowers”. Susanna showed great compassion, which led her to minister to the needs of Jesus and His disciples.

The flowers, bulbs, and roots of the white lily are used internally, as well as externally, for therapeutic purposes, to treat a wide variety of diseases and disorders – especially to alleviate pain, swelling and treat infections.  Susanna lived up to her name, as she ministered to Jesus and His disciples physically and with her substance to alleviate their pains of shelter, food and clothing. She gave what she had for the sake of Christ, the gospel of salvation and deliverance.

Are we following Jesus? What are we giving for the growth of the Kingdom? Are we willing to make sacrifices to alleviate the pains of others and meet their needs?

ACTION: Be a white lily.

PRAYER Oh Lord, please always bring to my memory your ultimate sacrifice and cause me to follow you and give without looking back.
