GODLY WISDOM YIELDS GOOD FRUITS!

“But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits…”

(James 3:17)

“Thus you will recognize them by their fruits.”

(Matthew 7:20)

“I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.”

(John 15:5)

God is the vine dresser, Christ is the vine, we are the branches. With godly wisdom, just as an apple tree through its branches bears apple fruits, we must bear the fruit of the character of Christ, and live to manifest His power as well as the fruit of His Spirit – love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility and self-control.

In the Bible, especially in the Old Testament, children were referred to as fruits (of the womb). Raising good children needs godly wisdom in all its manifestations! The most important Christian fruit is the salvation of a soul!

Jimmy Yen was a Chinese educator and organiser, known for his work in mass literacy and rural reconstruction, first in China, then in many countries. Yen had the best of education including Hong Kong, Yale and Princeton universities. He could have been one of the top professors of his time but he preferred to describe himself as a “follower of Christ”, implying a direct relation with Jesus. He saw a need of the illiterate peasants of China and made sacrifices to meet it with mass literacy campaigns for those who could not pay the high tuition fees. This attracted millions of students. It is said that a jury of distinguished scholars and scientists, including Albert Einstein and Orville Wright, voted Yen as one of the top ten modern revolutionaries of the twentieth century.

 Godly wisdom made Jimmy Yen spiritually and physically fruitful!
