JOHN’S IDENTITY OF JESUS (3)

“I am the door…”(John 10:7)

In Jesus’ time, the sheep pen did not have doors but the shepherd functioned as the door to let the sheep in and out, and protect them. Jesus is the Door, as the Son of God who paid the price for our redemption. He is the only way to gain access to the Father, to save us now and eternally. Jesus is the one who opens and closes the gateway to eternal life. Being both God and man, Jesus unites us with the Father by uniting our lives with His, giving us all the benefits of being God’s children

I once read an interesting story, told by someone thus: “When my husband and I arrived at an automobile dealership to pick up our car, we were told the keys had been locked in it. We went to the service department and found a mechanic working feverishly to unlock the driver’s side door. As I watched from the passenger side, I instinctively tried the door handle and discovered that it was unlocked. “Hey,” I announced to the technician, “It’s open!” To which he replied, “I know – I already got that side.” 

Sometimes, just like the mechanic, we lose focus and spend time looking for a way of salvation, when Jesus, the Door is just a step away or a decision away from us. Sometimes we struggle to open the door to things that are material, whereas if we seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, all these things would be added to us.

Also, knowing Jesus brings guidance, direction and wisdom to use opportunities rightly.

ACTION:  Looking only unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, make your priority to be first on eternal things.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I give myself over to Jesus, the Door to life eternal. Let me have daily access to peace, joy, abundance and hope of everlasting life.
