JOHN’S IDENTITY OF JESUS (2)
“…I am the light of the world.”(John 8:12; 9:5)
How would the Israelites have found their way in their journey from Egypt to the Promised Land, especially during their night journeys, if the pillar of fire had not gone before them? (Exodus 13:21).
Just as the pillar of fire, Jesus, as the light of the world, brings the light of God’s presence, protection and guidance to man. In addition, His light triumphs over and scatters the darkness of human wickedness, sin and evil. That is divine and not human.
Just as plants need light to grow, man needs the light of Jesus, the Word, to mature spiritually in godly character. This light can transform despair to hope; enlighten confused, spiritually blind minds with wisdom, knowledge and insight; and transform the hopelessness and finality of death to the joy and endlessness of life, life eternal.
Do you know that the moon does not have a light of its own? The moon shines because its surface reflects light from the sun.
ACTION: Reflect Jesus and light up the world!
PRAYER: Lord, fill up my life with your light, so I can light up the world around me!
