1ST DECEMBER
AND IT CAME TO PASSBER
“Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.”
(Psalm 30:5, NKJV)
Recently, a friend told me she never used to worry about anything throughout her school days because her decision to offer Bible Knowledge as a subject in Secondary School had taught her to develop absolute trust in God because of the phrase: “And it came to pass.”
All storms and challenges will pass. We need to encourage ourselves in the Lord when challenges come and trust our God who never fails. We need to remind ourselves of our past testimonies of God’s faithfulness, love and care. Pains come from sickness, missed opportunities, poverty, reversal of fortunes, betrayals, or death of a loved one. Some challenges are irreversible but even in those, the wounds heal, the intense grief and the sense of despair reduce. Indeed, the night may seem long but it passes and the morning surely comes.
Can we compare whatever pains we are going through to the pains the Israelites went through for 430 years in Egypt? In addition to normal death across all ages, all new-born males were killed. There was drudgery, physical torture, mental agony and fear. But then, one day, one night, their deliverance came to pass. “And it came to pass at the end of the four hundred and thirty years—on that very same day—it came to pass that all the armies of the Lord went out from the land of Egypt.” (Exodus 12:41).
ACTION: Rest in the assurance that your challenges are not permanent. God is moderating them and you will emerge stronger and better!
PRAYER: Thank you, Lord, because whatever challenges I face will soon be over.
