“Then Jesus turned, and seeing them following, said to them, ‘What do you seek?’ They said to Him, ‘Rabbi’ (which is to say, when translated, Teacher), ’where are You staying?’ (John 1:38)
Jesus is called Rabbi, which is translated Teacher! A rabbi is a spiritual leader, teacher or master in Judaism. Who is a Teacher? Simply, one who passes on knowledge to others. Merriam Webster Dictionary defines a teacher as one ‘who instructs, educates, trains, disciplines, and imparts knowledge, information or skill so that others may learn’. Jesus, our Teacher, does all of these. He is alive and through the Holy Spirit and Scriptures fulfils His role as our Rabbi. He looks beyond the external to our motives.

ACTION: Would you be willing to follow Him like the disciples in the verse above, submit ourselves as sincere students, pass our tests (trials) and exams (temptations), and in turn become teachers for His glory?

PRAYER: May we learn from Jesus, our Teacher at such a time as this.
