“And she said to her husband, ‘Look now, I know that this is a holy man of God, who passes by us regularly. Please, let us make a small upper room on the wall; so it will be, whenever he comes to us, he can turn in there.’” (2 Kings 4:9-10)
We searched for a suitable baby crib in vain during my first pregnancy. Stella came with a surprise, a crib more beautiful than we could ever imagine. “This is an American baby cot made of the finest wood. How much will we pay for it?” I asked. “It is free. You have given me several things, including physical and emotional support, when I needed them most,” she answered. The Shunammite woman gave food and a room to the weary prophet Elisha with her husband’s support. Just like the lady in the true story above, she gave without expecting a reward, but rewards came anyway. The Shunammite woman likewise received a much-desired son a year after Elisha’s prophesy.
ACTION: Let us keep doing good, for God rewards in His own way and time.
PRAYER: Lord, please grant us hearts that give willingly at such a time as this!
