“And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being”. (Genesis 2:7)

As a child, I read the story about dolls that would be alive at night and decided to test it. I placed my dolls near me on the bed so I could wake up and talk with them. Did they talk? It is so laughable what kids can believe! When man began to make talking dolls, I wonder if kids thought they had life? In the same way, we have some erroneous beliefs of our abilities. What keeps man alive? Good food, medical care, science or man’s wisdom and intelligence? All these are necessary for man’s mortal existence, but what happens when God takes away his breath? When the spirit of man, which is immortal, is taken away from man’s body, which is mortal, man ceases to live. Would we rather be talking dolls for a season or take a decision to live for Christ and live eternally?

ACTION: Take the decision to live for Jesus at such a time as this!

PRAYER: Father God, grant us the grace to use Your breath to honour You.
