“For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, ’Abba, Father!’.” (Romans 8:15)
God is our Father. Unlike Okonkwo in Chinua Achebe’s book Things Fall Apart, who betrayed the boy who called him father, in order to protect his reputation as a fearless warrior, God does not have to prove anything to anyone. He is Omnipotent, no controversy! He wraps his arms around us to protect us when we run to him. We have no reason to fear when we accept Jesus as Saviour and Lord, for we become God’s adopted children. We have the privilege to call him, Abba Father, to come to him anytime, anywhere in joy and in challenges. He hears and answers and loves us unconditionally. His telephone line is never busy, switched off or disconnected. He is never asleep.
ACTION: Pray at all times, for His prayer line is always open.
PRAYER: Thank you, Lord God, for the privilege to call You our Father, Papa, Daddy, Abba Father at such a time as this.
