“Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” (James 4:7b)

Resistance requires us to actively pull away, in this case from external evils as well as internal thoughts that make our minds a battle field. It demands that we continually counter the lies of the devil by telling ourselves the truth about God’s goodness, love and power. The devil will flee from us when we submit to the truth of God’s Word. However, we must bear in mind that, just like in the temptation of Jesus Christ, he leaves only for a season.
So we should always be prepared and equipped with the Word, the name and blood of Jesus and the weapons of warfare (Ephesians 6:10-18). There is a current wave about the impact of positive affirmations. Let me emphasize that these are more powerful if they are based on the unfailing Word of God.

ACTION: Be proactive in resisting the devil at such a time as this.

PRAYER: We will hide the Word in our hearts and always be ready for battle, by God’s grace.
