“Listen! I have given you authority, so that you can walk on snakes and scorpions and overcome all the power of the enemy, and nothing will hurt you.”(Luke 10:18)
Like the disciples, we are sent out into the world to bring the good news of the gospel with healings, signs and wonders. When we obey this commission, we have authority over the enemy. No reason to fear! Nothing will hurt us! Nevertheless, we should not be careless with our lives. I remember the story of the man who jumped into the lions’ cage in the zoo some years ago, expecting God to deliver him the way He delivered Daniel in the Bible. Daniel did not jump into the cage. He was falsely accused and thrown in so God fought for him. Note that even though we have this authority with victory here on earth, it is more important to make heaven: “But don’t be glad because the evil spirits obey you; rather be glad because your names are written in heaven.”(v. 20)
ACTION: Rejoice at such a time as this that our names are written in heaven.
PRAYER: O God our Father, our desire is that we will use our authority here on earth wisely, and without fear for such a time as this.
