NOTABLE WOMEN (6)

(SUSANNA WESLEY 2)

“Look, I am sending you out as sheep among wolves. So be as shrewd as snakes and harmless as doves.”

(Matthew 10:16, NLT)

How aptly this verse describes Susanna. Susanna was an achiever with godly wisdom. She was as cautious as a serpent – without the craftiness – and was as innocent and harmless as a dove. Like a sheep in the midst of wolves, she faced persistent hostility and persecutions from many fronts. She went through a lot of hardship, especially financial, ill-health and death of many of her children. Her house got burnt twice. Initially, her husband travelled a lot but at a time he actually left her and the children for over a year as a result of a minor dispute.  Against all odds, she fulfilled her purpose.

ACTION:  Be inspired to walk in resilience, dedication to both God and our family. Be a person of prayer and faith. Be sensitive to God’s direction, especially in raising godly children and grandchildren with the virtues of courage, patience, peaceful contentment and the likes.

PRAYER: Thank you, Lord, for declaring me more than conquerors through Christ who loves us.
