A DISCIPLE OF CHRIST

“One day Jesus called together his twelve disciples[a] and gave them power and authority to cast out all demons and to heal all diseases.” (Luke 9:1)

Are you a believer in Christ? What do you call yourself? A Christian. But would you call yourself a disciple? Please just read the verse again! We have power and authority over all devils and to cure diseases!

Why is it not just that simple in our lives? It was not simple for the first disciples either but when they obeyed, they were amazed at the results: “And they departed, and went through the towns, preaching the gospel, and healing everywhere”(Luke 9:6). “And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name” (Luke 10:17).

Are you thinking this was just for the twelve or seventy disciples? No! The same was given in many other Bible passages and an even more detailed instruction and authority was given in Mark 16:15–18, “And he said to them….And these signs shall follow them that believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up serpents with their hands; and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

ACTION: Disciple, lay hands and pray for the next person who is sick before you bring out that medicine. Take authority over that “small” demon that is harassing you instead of allowing fear to take over your life!

PRAYER: I believe and trust in my Lord that it is as He said it is–that I have authority and power over devils and sickness.
